TEMISKAMING SHORES — Temiskaming Shores Chief Tim Uttley is proud of the City and its residents. He wrote a letter to the City of Temiskaming Shores congratulating the City, the residents and the hard work of staff and community partners as the City placed fourth in the Province of Ontario Emergency Preparedness Challenge.
The letter was acknowledged by council at the Tuesday, August 24 meeting.
Chief Uttley said during Emergency Preparedness Week held on May 7, the City partnered with the province to promote the Emergency Preparedness “Take the Challenge” event.
Residents were encouraged to log onto the Emergency Management web site where they had to take part in an on-line questionnaire that involved answering five multiple-choice questions about emergency preparedness.
Those that took the on-line challenge had their names entered into a draw as well said Chief Uttley.
He said “As Fire Chief for the City of Temiskaming Shores it gives me great pleasure to advise Council that with the fantastic support of our residents and the hard work of our staff and community partners, the City of Temiskaming Shores placed fourth in the Province of Ontario in communities with a population of 5,000 to 50,000 for participation in the Emergency Preparedness Challenge.”
He offered his congratulations to the Mayor and Council, the Emergency Management Program Committee, City staff and all residents who take the time to participate during Emergency Preparedness Week activities.
“With the support of everyone we have demonstrated our ongoing commitment to raising awareness of the need to prepare for the possibility of an emergency,” he said.
