TEMISKAMING SHORES (Special) – The Temiskaming Pony Club (TPC) had a clean sweep in the “C” and “B” divisions of the Central Ontario Prince Phillip Games (PPG) competitions in May, June and July.
Three teams travelled to Lindsay for the Central Ontario PPG meets. In all three competitions the “C” team, Temiskaming Trotters, placed first, which made them first overall and Central Ontario Region (COR) champs. Team members are Lexi Williams, Spencer Brisson, Reid Archambault and Sonya Breault.
The two “B” teams had an excellent season. The Temiskaming Sassy Saphires placed first in the first two competitions and second in the third competition, which gave them a first place win overall. The team members are Allie Heroux, Jordan McVittie, Angelica Brisson and Haylee Archambault.
The Temiskaming Pretty Ponies, competing for the first time in the “B” division, placed second in the first two competitions and first in the third, placing them in the runners-up position. Riders are Lynnsey St. Louis, Amy Snow and Kiarra Crawford.
The motto of the Temiskaming Pony Club PPG riders is practice makes perfect, so to that end the teams begin practice in early March under the guidance of the Temiskaming Pony Club’s PPG coach, Aimee Heroux. Heroux was a member of the TPC from the age of five until she had to cease membership at their top age of 21. She then went on to become the Pony Club’s PPG coach and education instructor, with her own daughter now a member.
The Temiskaming Pony Club will be having their membership meeting on Friday, September 10 at Dreamcatcher Equestrian Center, from 5-7 p.m. For more information contact Sandi Heroux at 647-8607 or sandiheroux@hotmail.com.
